To Clip or Not to Clip

When Jem was an itty bitty baby I tried clipping his nails, but it did not turn out well. I clipped two nails and drew blood on BOTH fingers. I was horrified beyond words and never used nail clippers again. I have been filing Jem's nails ever since...until today! I clipped all ten nails and nary a drop of blood was shed. Yeah!!! A mommy milestone to be sure.

Have I mentioned how awesome my kid is???

eatmisery said...: My husband has never once cut the kids' nails. I always do it. When they were teeny tiny babies, I was too scared to use the nail clippers, so I'd bite their nails. Once I got over my own fear of those pesky nail clippers, it all went well.; September 16, 2008 at 8:40 PM

It"s Such a Shame

I always thought that when I was ready to have a baby with my wonderful and obnoxiously intelligent husband, it was a given, a guarantee of success; it's my birthright to give birth. Have sex and the baby will come; isn't that the way it's done? That's what they told me in high school! I mean, we are both award winning teachers, dammit! We have dedicated our lives to helping other people's children! For years we have been told what terrific parents we would make. "When are you gonna have kids; you're so great with them!" "It will be such a shame if you don't have kids!" Yes, it would be a shame.
